So, not having watched a lot of Action movies in my life, I am wondering: what are some classic action movies that still hold up today and you would recommend?

This is a really good question. Especially because people who have watched action movies for years still enjoy the old ones even if just for nostalgia sake. But for someone who hasn't seen a lot of action movies - the perception I think will be quite different.
However I think I have quite a few ideas - I'll think on them and for now certainly say "First Blood."

I think The Terminator series holds up. It is an action/sci-fi thing but real fun to watch still

I was a huge Bronson fan. Death Hunt was one of my favorites. The Geat Escape holds up very well, but has slightly less action in it.

Above The Law and Time Cop stand out. Now, Do you consider Indiana Jones an action movie?

I think Indy could be classified as action.....its definitely action/adventure which includes the word action. Is it as much an action film as a sci-fi/action film? I think so. When you start getting into fantasy movies though I think the opening gets a bit narrower perhaps. Just my thoughts.

The original Terminator holds up for the most part but I would say Terminator 2 even more so...great movie!
I will have to check out Timecop soon!
As for First Blood, just watched Rambo (2008) this afternoon-now that's a movie!

Yeah I feel the same about Rambo - hence my avatar. Many action stars have recently cited that specific film as a super-important milestone in action film-making.

This is true. Rambo was not one for words but he knows how to make a point!

This was a deleted scene. Rambo dosen't eat Pizza. He only eats wild boar. But I like it!
