Sorry for a long post! i have a habit of writing ***a lot!*** --- if you would like me to shorten things up please let me know!
Being that i'm a Bond fannatic, i felt i had to make a post about the movies! And i recommend them to you. i'd also love to have you folks talk about a different kind of action movie and ask you what kind(s) of action movies you think are different than what we're used to.
Officially, there are 23 Bond movies, but they leave one out, i'm not sure why. i count it as a James Bond movie. The point is, i've seen all 24 Bond movies, and there's a new one coming out at the end of this year called Skyfall; i'm sooo excited about it!
The point of this post: i figured i'd start a discussion on a different style of an action movie.
The Bonds usually center around a really involved plot. For example, the main bad guy gets his hands on a weapon that can destroy the world. Bond is a part of the MI6; the British Secret Service (the MI6 is a real thing). Bond gets informed of situations by his boss, M. By tradition, Bond meets with someone named Q who gives Bond all these cool gadgets to help him sneak in to the bad guy's evil lair and take out guards and things to help him escape from tough spots. And they're all disgused as something. Like a wristwatch that's actually a laser or something like that.
What separates a James Bond movie from a full out action movie is it's a lot longer. It takes a longer time to develop the plot, especially the older ones. This makes these movies seem to move slowly, and you can lose track of things if you're not paying attention. But it eventually leads to an epic, exciting ending filled with action-packed fighting; whether it's a fantastic hand-to-hand combat scene or a fantastic gun fight (Bond is trained with firearms and martial arts). The music is always memorable with each Bond movie. There's usually one song that you will hear that will make you always remember that film, whether it's the famous opening theme, the opening cinematic songs they play, or something that's played during the movie. There have been a lot of famous people in Bond movies (like Christopher Lee), and a lot of famous people who have sung the main themes of Bond movies (like Carly Simon and Madonna).
My favorite Bond was Sean Connery; pretty much every Bond fan will say the same thing. But, all the Bonds were and are very good. They all brought unique personalities to the big screen. All of the Bond movies are really great, they're all unique in their own way, and i recommend them to anyone who might be curious about them and if you check them out let me know what you think! The more modern Bonds are more exciting and have more action in them, but the older ones are still fantastic to watch. My favorite Bond movie is Goldfinger which was made in 1964.
So, what is your action movie that is different from what we're used to?
